A: Our system was installed on November 20th, 2010, and began contributing power to our school over Winter Break, on December 27th, 2010.

A: The array is comprised of eleven 235 watt photovoltaic panels, for a total system size of 2.6 kilowatts.

A: The system produces hundreds of kilowatt hours every month, which is enough to power a small house.

Q: How much Carbon Dioxide is kept out of the atmosphere because of the solar panels?
A: More than 600 lbs of Carbon Dioxide is saved per month, which is the equivalent of the burning of over 60 gallons of gas because of our system.

A: All aspects of the project were paid for by grants and donations. No funding came from Fairfax County Public Schools.
